Endurance Brasil: every make and model of GT1 cars

In the initial phase of Endurance Brasil, the older GT3 models (manufactured until 2008) and tubeframe Silhouette cars were classified in the GT1 class, while the more modern GT3 were grouped with the fastest prototypes in the GP1 class. As of 2018, the GT1 class was unified with GT2, giving rise to GT4, and aligning the nomenclature with the FIA ​​international standard, albeit with specific regulations.

BMW E92 M3 GTS V8

One of the most iconic models of the first phase of Endurance Brasil was Eurobike’s BMW M3 GTS, always with Henry Visconde at the wheel. Built from one of the 138 units built of the BMW M3 GTS, the model was prepared by MC Tubarão, keeping the BMW S65 4.4 V8 engine and initially with a lighter preparation, being included in the GT2 class, achieving 3 victories in its class. In 2017, the model received an upgrade developed by MC Tubarão, including a GTR bodykit from German manufacturer Floßmann, starting to compete in the GT1 class, achieving a class win at the 500 km of São Paulo.

Chevrolet Astra Stock Car

Racing only at the 3 Hours of Santa Cruz do Sul, in 2016, the Chevrolet Astra Stock Car with a Dodge 318 V8 engine from the Max Power Racing team abandoned at the beginning of the race, where it would be driven by Marlon Watanabe and Edson Bueno.

Chevrolet Montana Stock Car

Another Stock Car in the GT1 class was the Montana number 83 with a 4-cylinder turbo engine, which competed in the 2016 season, driven by names such as Adriano Baldo, Cristhian Castro, Dirceu Magno Adam and which achieved two second places in its class as its best results. With the end of the GT1 class in 2017, this Montana continued competing in the GT class of the Campeonato Gaúcho Super Turismo, with impressive results.

Chevrolet Sonic Stock Car

Yet another Chevrolet Stock Car in Endurance Brasil, the Sonic from the Mottin Racing team was the car with the most victories in the GT1 class, winning 8 of the 18 races contested between 2015 and 2017, in addition to the title in the 2015 and 2016 seasons, always driven by the duo André Senger and Humberto Giacomello. With the end of the GT1 class in 2018, the Sonic V8 continued competing in the GT class of the Campeonato Gaúcho Super Turismo, always as one of the fastest cars.

Chevrolet Vectra Stock Car

A classic sight in Brazilian endurance races, the Vectra Stock Car V8 from the trio Edras, Esdras and Juarez Soares also participated in the São Paulo rounds of the 2017 Endurance Brasil season, with a highlight on third place finish in the GT1 class in the 500 km of São Paulo.

Dodge Challenger Stock Car

Built on the chassis of a Stock Car, André Carrillo’s Challenger is one of the fan favorite cars, even though it participated in few races in the championship. Driven by André in a pair with Rodrigo Corbisier, the Challenger V8 only participated in one race in the GT1 class, the 500 Km of Interlagos in 2017, but continued competing in 2018 in the GT4 class.

Ferrari F430 Challenge

Based on the road going F430, the Challenge version was developed for the Italian manufacturer’s one-make championship, retaining the same engine as the road car with some fine adjustments, but with an update to the sequential transmission, reducing gear change time from 150ms to 60ms. In addition to the Ferrari Challenge itself, the F430 Challenge also has an Endurance pedigree, competing in the GT class of the Rolex Sports Car Series. In Brazil, F430s competed in the GT4 class of GT Brasil, and also in the Top2 GT of the Top Series. With the collapse of these championships, some cars started to compete in the Gaúcho de Endurance, and subsequently in the GT1 class of Endurance Brasil, managing to get three class wins in the 2015 season, in the 2 Hours of Tarumã, 3 Hours of Santa Cruz do Sul and 2 Hours of Guaporé .

Ferrari F430 Challenge GT Cup

Another Italian machine in the GT1 class was the Ferrari F430 Challenge with the GT Cup aerodynamic kit. In Endurance Brasil, the F430 in this configuration won 3 victories at the hands of the duo Ricardo Mendes and Telmo Tecchio during the 2017 season, when it was retired in favor of Ferrari 458 GT3 adopted by the team from 2018.

Ferrari F430 GT3 Scuderia

Another specification of the Ferrari F430 present in the GT1 class of Endurance Brasil was the GT3 version, also a legacy from GT Brasil and which won in its class in the opening round of the 2015 season, with André Senger and Humberto Giacomello.

Ford Fusion Stock Car

Andersom Toso’s Ford Fusion Stock Car V8 was built by Mottin Racing from a Pick-Up Racing chassis, keeping the same mechanical base but with a reworked engine from 350 to 500 hp and the suspension of the Copa Montana cars, with bodywork inspired by the Ford Fusion, due to the driver’s involvement with the Ford brand. Weighing 1,150 kg, the Fusion Stock V8 debuted in the 2010 season of the Campeonato Gaúcho de Endurance, achieving several victories in Group III. In Endurance Brasil, the Fusion was classified as GT1, and only participated in the opening race of the 2015 season.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 GT3

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 GT3 was developed by Reiter Engineering in 2006, retaining the 5.0 V10 engine but losing the all-wheel drive system to adapt to the GT3 regulations. The model was part of the first seasons of GT3 Brasil, and with the end of the GT championship in 2013, some of the Gallardos started to compete in the Campeonato Gaúcho de Endurance, and consequently in Endurance Brasil. Despite its potential, the Italian GT only achieved victories in its class in 2017 (in the 500 Km of Interlagos and 3 Hours of Tarumã), but a series of good results guaranteed the GT1 title to drivers Vilson Júnior, Gustavo Martins and Paulo Rutzen.

Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo was introduced in 2010 to replace the Coupé as Maserati’s one-make series car. With the engine maintaining the original 444 HP and weight reduced to 1,400 kg, in addition to an updated aerodynamic package, the GranTurismo MC Trofeo also participated in the late GT Brasil, in the GT4 class. With the end of the championship, the car began to compete frequently in the Gaúcho de Endurance and Endurance Brasil, achieving victory in the 3 Hours of Guaporé in 2016.

Metalmoro MR1

The Metalmoro MR1 was born as a tubeframe Silhouette with a fiberglass bodywork inspired by the Fiat 500, developed in partnership with Fiat Brazil to be used in an access category to the Trofeo Linea, but with the end of the Italian automaker’s support, Metalmoro continued alone development, giving rise to MR1. Equipped with a FIRE T-JET engine with around 280 hp and a 6-speed Sadev sequential transaxle and 18” wheels, the small GT debuted at the Campeonato Gaúcho de Endurance in 2013, taking part in several races since then. In Endurance Brasil, the MR1 participated in 3 rounds of the 2015 season, always proving to be very competitive.

Peugeot 307 Stock Car

In addition to participation in the GT2 class, the Peugeot 307 Stock Car bubble was also present in the GT1 class, with two participations in the 2015 season driven by Gustavo Myasava and Gustavo Frigotto.
