MADOM R/T

One of the new features of the 2026 season of the Rio Grande do Sul Endurance Championship will be the debut of the MADOM R/T prototype. Developed by driver Maurício Domingues, who had already been competing in the championship with an Aldee Coupé, the new car is being prepared to compete in the P4 class of the event, using as a base a design conceived in the 2000s for a street and racing sports car.

For this purpose, a fairing similar to that of the street prototype was built to “fit” an adapted Aldee Spyder chassis, following a line of Silhouette models mounted on prototype chassis such as Fuspyder, MC40 and others.

In relation to the street car, the number of fiberglass layers was reduced, which reduced the weight of the bodywork from 180 kg to 60 kg, in addition to being divided into 3 parts to facilitate access to the mechanical components.

Looking at the side view, the height of the bodywork was also reduced at the bottom, to match the height of the Spyder chassis and the 13-inch wheels (1), which are smaller than the 18-inch wheels of the street Madom. Another necessary update is in the aerodynamics, including a rear wing with swan neck support (2), a rear diffuser (3) and a front air outlet (4).

The front received a central opening for air intake (5) and a small splitter (6). Mechanically, the car is equipped with a Volkswagen AP 2.0 200 HP engine as per P4 regulations and a Volkswagen 5-speed H-pattern transmission.

The car’s shakedown took place in Tarumã on March 10th, and the first impressions of the Madom were positive, although much development work remains due to the nature of a new project like this.

In addition to Domingues’ car, interested teams can order new units of the Madom R/T to compete in the P4 class of the Gaúcho de Endurance championship, as well as in the GT and TS classes of the Superturismo RS, and it will also be eligible to compete in championships such as Road to Mil Milhas and the revived Paranaense de Endurance championship.

About the MADOM R/T

The name MADOM comes from the initials of the driver and designer Maurício Domingues, who began his motorsport career in 1987 in karting competitions, later moving on to the Campeonato Gaúcho de Marcas e Pilotos (Rio Grande do Sul Touring Car Championship), where he competed alongside names like Guaracy Costa, Gerson Quadrado, “Professor” Evaldo Quadrado, and Rogério “Alesi” Donelli.

In 1996, Domingues moved to Europe, competing in Kart and SuperKart championships until 2002, when he partnered with Olivier Clement to form MDS Sports Racing to export the MCR prototype from Brazil to Europe. The MDS prototype was renamed MDS and equipped with a Peugeot V6 engine and SADEV transmission, aiming to compete in European endurance championships, such as the VdeV, in the 2005 season.

At the end of 2003, development of the MADOM began as a high-performance car for both the streets (Road) and the track (Track). Hence the R/T designation, whose design was finalized by engineer and designer Oscar Ortiz (Audi) and designer Sergio de la Fuente (Airbus).

The chassis and body were developed using clay modeling, first at a 1:4 scale and later with the creation of manufacturing molds, including the body which was molded in a single piece.

Returning to Brazil in 2005, the development and manufacturing process was initiated in partnership with UNISC (University of Santa Cruz do Sul) with support from interns Diego Junkheer, Júlio César Frantz, and Roberto Diehl Bernardi.

The first unit was built in space provided by Philip Morris, and was completed in 2008 in a street configuration with a tubular chassis, fiberglass body, independent suspension on all four wheels, inboard rear shock absorbers, Stock Car shock absorbers, 18-inch wheels and a Chevrolet 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine from the Omega, with 210 HP.

This initial version was given a demonstration lap around the UNISC ring road, and was later tested at the Santa Cruz do Sul racetrack, in addition to being used for the filming of a report for Globo’s Auto Esporte program.

The MADOM logo is a reference to the branding iron used to mark cattle on Maurício Domingues’ family farm.

The return to Motorsports

After investing significant time and resources in the development of Madom, the lack of partners who could provide financial support to the project led Maurício Domingues to step away from motorsports in 2011, only returning in 2019 to compete in karting championships in Uruguay. With this return, his passion for motorsports rekindled, leading him to test a Benetton B198 Formula 1 single-seater in 2023. The experience was repeated in 2025, this time with a Prost AP05, powered by a Peugeot V10 engine.

In 2024, he competed in the North European Mitjet Championship for the FP Racing team. In the championship, Domingues raced on iconic tracks such as Zandvoort, Hockenheim, and Dijon-Prenois.

In 2025, Maurício Domingues returned to Brazil, competing in the P4 class of the Rio Grande do Sul Endurance Championship with an Aldee prototype – and winning second place in his class alongside Rafael Costa, son of his former Marcas teammate, Guaracy Costa.

Furthermore, he competed in the 24 Hours of Spa in a Citroën 2CV, achieving third place in the prototype class, with a crew consisting of Ségolène Brethenoux, Pierre-Yves Surel and Rafael Costa.

Another experience for Maurício Domingues was a test with a Lamera Cup in 2025, at the Dijon-Prenois track.
