After the implementation of the GT4 class, replacing the GT1 and GT2 classes, GT4 received the most diverse models of Brazilian and foreign cars, but with the arrival of modern FIA GT4 models it became clear that older and touring-type models would not be competitive. To keep these cars in the running, from 2019 onwards the GT4 class was split into two, with the GT4 Light class created to accommodate these older models. This class remained in force until the 2021 season, when the grids began to shrink and the class was once again unified as GT4.
Audi RS3 LMS TCR
Imported by Eurobike in 2018, the RS3 LMS was the first TCR to compete on Brazilian tracks, many years before the official arrival of TCR in South America in 2021. Initially, the model competed in the GT4 class in the 2018 season, migrating to GT4 Light in 2019 with the arrival of the FIA GT4 models, achieving 5 victories in the class between the 2019 and 2020 seasons and helping the duo Júnior Victorette and Marcelo Karam to win the 2019 season title.
Audi R8 4.2 V8
Developed by Ebrahim Motors based on a street-legal R8 V8, the car received a roll cage, suspension tuning and aerodynamic modifications. During the 2021 season, the car competed in some stages with Pedro Ebrahim and Claúdio Kyrila, but presented a series of problems during development. In 2024, the car resurfaced in the GT1 class of the Campeonato Gaúcho de Endurance.
BMW 135i GTR
After an accident that took the Eurobike team’s BMW M4 GT4 out of action at the 4 Hours of Velopark in 2021, the team turned to the BMW 135i GTR used by Paulo Sousa in the Campeonato Gaúcho de Superturismo, so as not to be left out of the race. With a modest performance, the car ended up retiring after completing 47 laps.
Chevrolet Astra Stock Car
A rare entry in the GT4 Light class was the Astra Stock Car driven by César Ramos and Vinicius Kwong during the start of the 2020 season. As a curiosity, before the Endurance races this car was owned by Xandy Negrão.
Chevrolet Cruze Brasileiro De Marcas
Another rarity in the GT4 Light class was the participation of the Chevrolet Cruze from the Brazilian Brands Championship, entered in the opening round of the 2019 season with Marcelo Losasso and Humberto Biazus. Equipped with a Berta 2.0 Turbo engine, the Cruze achieved 20th place in the overall standings, and fourth in its class. The car was later acquired by the NC Racing team, competing in races in the Gaucho Superturismo Championship and the Road to Mil Milhas.
Chevrolet Montana Stock Car
Another Stock Car in the GT4 Light class was Montana number 28, driven by Vinicius Kwong and Pietro Rimbano during the 2019 season, with moderate results.
Dodge Challenger
Built on a Brazilian Stock Car chassis, André Carrillo’s Challenger is one of the cars that remains most in the memory of Endurance Brazil fans, even though it has only participated in a few races in the championship. Driven by André in tandem with Rodrigo Corbisier, the Challenger V8 only participated in one race in the GT1 class, the 500 Km of Interlagos in 2017, but continued to compete in the GT4 class in 2018. In 2019, it returned only for the 4 Hours of Interlagos, now in the GT4 Light category, finishing fourth in its class.
Fiat Linea Trofeo
The Linea Trofeo was created for the now-defunct Trofeo Linea and Copa Fiat, a single-make championship sponsored by Fiat that featured several top-notch Brazilian drivers such as Cacá Bueno, Christian Fittipaldi, Marcos Gomes and many others. Starting with the Fiat Lineat T-JET, the competition model received a FIRE 1.4 T-JET engine prepared by FPT, with a 6-speed Sadev sequential transmission and had its chassis prepared by Metalmoro, which performed the final assembly of the car. After the end of the championship in 2012, several of the cars manufactured found shelter in the long-distance races, in the Gáucho de Endurance and later in the Endurance Brasil. In the GT4 Light class, Fiat models were frequent figures, but without achieving any victories.
Ginetta G55 GT4
After dominating the 2018 Endurance Brasil season in the GT4 class, the arrival of more modern models such as the Mercedes AMG and McLaren 570S and the lack of an adequate BoP caused the Ginettas to migrate to the GT4 Light class midway through the 2020 season. Although in practice the English cars were competitive in race pace, sometimes achieving positions above the GT4s in the main class, this demotion led to a loss of the title, despite having won 4 out of 6 races. During the 2021 season, the Ginettas once again dominated the GT4 Light, with a 100% victory rate.
Giaffone JL-G12 Stock Light
Another exotic entry in the 2020 season was the entry of a Stock Light by the KTF Sports team in the opening stage of Endurance Brasil, a car that would be driven by the duo Enzo Bortoletto and Pedro Ferro. It would be, as problems during training forced an early retirement before the start of the race.
Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Cup
Developed in 2014 for the AMG Cup, some Mercedes CLA 45 AMGs ended up finding new life in long-distance races, such as in Endurance Brasil in the GT4 (2018) and GT4 Light (from 2019 onwards) classes. In GT4 Light, Mercedes dominated the 2019 season with 5 victories, even against competition from the Audi RS3 TCR from Eurobike, bleeding Junior Victorette and Marcelo Karam as champions. With the arrival of the Ginetta G55 in the GT4 Light class in 2020, it became practically impossible for a touring car like the Mercedes to win races, but as this change in classification occurred in the third stage of the championship, Tuca Antoniazzi’s consistency led him to the class title.
Peugeot 408 Stock Car
The other Stock Car “body”, based on the Peugeot 408, was also present in the GT4 Light class, registered for the 4 Hours of Interlagos in 2019. However, the duo Reinaldo Rena and Roberto Rossatti did not even start after problems during the stage’s training.
